I'm Sorry Toilet Paper

As any mother will tell you, sometimes we have those days that are overwhelming. Since getting married, Jasen has struggled with accepting my husband as an equal parent. I try patience and making positive changes. I know we are making progress slowly but surely. The other night I had one of those overwhelming moments and I needed to get out of the house. I left to run some errands and when I returned I was given the "I'm Sorry" toilet paper:

How could I possibly stay angry after receiving an I'm Sorry letter written on toilet paper? This is just one of the many reasons I love my crazy family!

T-Shirt Scarf Tutorial:

Today's tutorial is on how to up-cycle those old t-shirts into new fashion accessories. Hope you enjoy!

Take an old t-shirt and cut across just underneath the sleeves

Take a paper plate (or another circular item of your choice) and start tracing

circles on your t-shirt.

Cut the circles out.

Cut each circle Into a spiral. If you hold a few circles together at a time, you can

ensure a little more uniformity in the scarf.

tip: if you cut a narrow spiral into your circle, the scarf will be longer. A thicker spiral will be a bit shorter

Gently pull on the spirals to stretch them a bit.

Tie small piece of t-shirt at the back to hold all pieces together.

You now have a fun frilly scarf that you can wear a couple different ways.

Wife to Stevan and mother to Michael. I became a first time mom at 31 years old and a Stay at Home Mom to boot! I vaguely remember helping my mother with my three younger brothers, but that seems like eons ago. All of this is new to me, which is why I decided to document, when I can remember, about the my new life in Mommyhood.

I don't bake. I've tried and have always burned, missed an ingredient or two, or just end up cursing whatever monstrosity comes out of the oven. This doesn't mean that cooking is off limits since I can cook pretty well. Usually comes out delicious if I may say so myself. As mentioned, baking is my enemy, but this doesn't mean that I still won't keep trying and quite possibly will post it on here.

I'm not a DIYer or a crafty lady whatsoever. I'm too lazy for that, but I do admire those who do it and wish so hard that I could do it. Don't tell me "just get off your butt and do it!" because even when I try to do something remotely crafty, it just sucks.

I'm not as pessimistic as I sound. I'm actually quite the opposite. I'm a dreamer and a believer. I try hard to look for the silver linings in thing because sometimes you just have to. Life has handed me and us so many lemons that I have a life time supply of lemonade.

Blogging Basics: Button Code

For me, one of the most challenging parts of blog design is all of the codes! I have taken one web class back in 2005 (?). They briefly touched on web design and coding. In this post I will talk about two things:

1. Button Code to send to others
2. Button Code for a "grab my button" box.

The first thing you will need to do is design your image. You can use Photoshop or Picmonkey or another photo site. In my experience, most buttons are usually sized 150x150. Some sites might ask for different sizes. Here's a picture of what this means on Picmonkey:

Once you have your image you will need to "host" it somewhere. Basically that means post it online. I have done two different things. I either:

1. Upload my button pic to my "about me" section and then right click for the image URL

2. Upload my button pic to Photobucket.

Once you have your image uploaded somewhere you can make the code.

This is by far the best site I have found as far as a code generator is concerned:

All you have to do is follow the instructions! 

1. Enter your website name

2. Enter your website address

3. Copy and paste your image URL (either right click on uploaded pic or copy and paste the direct link on Photobucket)

4. I usually click Textarea because I use blogger.

5. Click to preview your code.

(If you are generating a code to email to someone, you can stop here and copy and paste your code).

6. If you are making a "grab my button" box, then continue and click "get code". Scroll to the bottom of the page to get your full code.

To enter the code into your blog (for Blogger) go to your Layout, click "add a gadget", choose "add HTML".

Copy and paste the code, save it, move it where you want it...and...Ta-da! You have a "grab my button" box!
